This imagery is of a cat and a residential School. Gardening is associated to mind-less labour by children for countless hours in residential schools. It was part of the curriculum. Consequently, Indigenous people have traditionally regarded it negatively. I have used imagery of a cat to explain the importance of gardening. In this image the cat has no tail due to diabetes and is symbolic of Indigenous people as the disease wreaks havoc on our lives. However, not only eating healthily is crucial as many Indigenous people have suffered from diabetes, but cleaning the land without using harmful substances is of utmost importance.
